Winter 2019's worthy mention is Cerrado Mineiro, Brazil Espresso. While most Brazilian coffee comes from 100 Hectare plantations owned generationally by a few families Our Coffees, the producer group of Cerrado Mineiro , was started by one (and then a group) of pickers that pooled very few resources to purchase a relatively small plot of land. Almost decades later Our Coffees is its own producer, exporter, and importer with offices in California and their second generation at the helm (agronomists, accountants, etc.) In an effort to make inroads into the midwest they visited our Groundswell Damen avenue Store in August of 2017 with a short power point presentation and geo tagged QAR coded samples. It was very impressive. The 2018 samples were also impressive. Hence this year's late winter, early spring espresso. As the 2016 Summer Olympics highlighted, the economic disparity in Brazil is staggering, so this is "three cheers for the little guy."
